Independent game · Live daily challenge

How well do you really know São Paulo?

MapTap SP names a place and gives you a blank satellite map. You get five guesses a day. Distance, district knowledge, and harder late rounds decide the score.

The idea

A familiar city becomes difficult when the labels disappear.

I wanted a five-minute geography game for people who trade São Paulo references all day but rarely have to place them on a map. A satellite view removes the clues that make ordinary map quizzes easy.

The daily format gives friends the same five places. Practice mode lets people keep playing without weakening the shared challenge.

The build

Most of the design lives inside the scoring.

Curated locations · date-seeded runs · local streaks

  1. 01

    Choose fair targets

I curated landmarks, avenues, and streets by difficulty and checked their coordinates against the satellite view.

  2. 02

    Reward useful knowledge

Distance drives accuracy, but the correct district sets a score floor. Later rounds carry larger multipliers.

  3. 03

    Make the result travel

The game now generates a branded score card, supports native sharing, and hands the result directly to WhatsApp.

Product decisions

A small game still needs sharp boundaries.

  • The daily answer set comes from the date, so everyone gets the same run without a backend.
  • Scores and streaks stay on the device. You can start playing without registration or consent screens.
  • Answers remain in the client. That works for a social game, but a competitive leaderboard would need server-side validation.

Try it

Five taps settle the argument.

The daily takes a few minutes and works best on a phone.
